Founded in 1890 in the Somme french department (80), in the heart of the Vimeu industrial area, and renowned for its locksmith trade, the Boclet padlock factory became the Jean Tirard company in 1930.

In 1958, Jean-Claude Tirard took over the company and developed its industrial facilities around 4 core businesses: cutting, stamping, casting and design.
Pooling this expertise has enabled the company to move into different business sectors, such as accessories for caravans, hardware accessories and locks for closing systems.

In 1995, the founder’s grandson, Philippe Tirard, to take over and refocus the business on the production of outdoor gate locks and accessories.

In 2003, building on its experience in designing accessories for gates, garage doors and shutters, in which it is the market leader, Tirard has acquired Forges Burgaud in the Vendée deparment to complete its range.

In 2008, Yves Kessler becomes the new CEO of the Tirard & Burgaud and takes over part of the assets of Auvray Dragon, founded in 1873, a manufacturer of locks and other building hardware.

In 2013, JFC Industrie acquires a stake in the group.

Founded in 1932 In the Vendée french department (85), in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, Forges Burgaud has been making winches for over 40 years. The main applications were for fishing boats, barges, oyster tables and ironmongery for the building industry.
In 1973 , Christian Burgaud took over the management of the company and specialised in ironmongery.

In 1985,Forges Burgaud became S.A. Forges Burgaud. Christian Burgaud became CEO and in 1987, he launched a range of aluminium fittings to meet the needs of the fast-growing PVC window market.
En 1999 , 100% of the capital is sold to a pool of majority financial shareholders and a minority manager.

In 2003 the financial investors sold Burgaud to Tirard, which pooled its commercial, development and financial resources and skills.
Burgaud is growing by becoming the leader in aluminium hardware.
Yves Kessler took over as Chairman in April 2008.

In 2023, as required by law, Burgaud has published its results on gender equality in the workplace.
